Mixed media collage inspired by the beautiful work of Tracie Lyn Huskamp. I would really recomment her book “Nature Inspired”, it’s a treasure trove of ideas and beautiful journal pages.
Some experiments from my sketchbook. The initial experiment consisted of scrunching up paper, applying paint and then attempting to turn it into an interesting pattern. But it didn’t turn out to my liking so I cut it up into pieces and composed it differently to try and make it better. Unfortunatly these turned out to be failures too. ^^”
Oh well, I’ll find a use for this technique another time. ;)
Composition inspired by japanese shoji screens. I didn’t want the panels to be identical and regular but as the same time I wanted the composition to be perfectly balanced. So even though it looks like just a bunch of lines, it actually took a long time to create. ^^”
I think it would look great with a branch of elegant cherry blossoms cutting across the panels, in my minds eyes it’s the picture of beauty and sophistication. I might add them in at a later date.
With this piece I wanted to create a wonderful array of colours against a vintage style backdrop. I love how the stream of colours take the eyes across the page and the music notes give the piece a sense of rhythm. I want to turn this into a piece of art on canvas so I’ve been thinking about improving the design before I go ahead with the idea. Two changes I’m thinking about making is coffee staining the music sheets to give it a more aged feel and composing the coloured squares horizontally against the vertical black stripes rather than diagonally.
